4 Healthy Tips to Grow Your Beard

4 Healthy Tips to Grow Your Beard

So, you have finally decided to grow your beard? Congratulations, you are about to enter the world of cool, urban men who pursue a different lifestyle of impressive looks and cool behavior. To help you out, here are 4  easy steps on how to achieve the perfect shape and length of the beard. Keep in mind, though, that it takes devotion from your side as well as patience and a couple of weeks to get it going.

Step 1: Get the Essential Beard Care Products

Before you start growing your beard get beard oil, beard cream, beard shampoo, and a beard brush. These three products are the basic ones. Later, you can expand the list of beard care products. The beard oil is your ultimate beard product. It protects the skin, decreases the irritation of the skin, especially in the first two weeks when the beard starts growing, and the sharp hairs make the skin red and itchy. The beard oil soothes the skin, relieves the itchiness and provides enough hydration and moisture that will make you feel at ease.

The beard cream is necessary to shape the beard once it starts to form a small bush. It has all the nutrients to make the hair smooth and shiny without them becoming greasy. It also helps to style the beard easily and effortless.

The beard shampoo is a must. You shouldn’t wash your beard with the same shampoo you use for your hair because it might dry it out. Usually, hair shampoos have hard-on-the-hair formulas that are rich in sulphates which, on the other hand, are hazardous to the moisture of the facial hair. The beard shampoos should be based on natural formulas that will clean the beard thoroughly and nourish it at the same time.

Finally, the beard brush or comb will make sure the hairs are set in place and not growing in all directions. Use the brush or comb after washing the beard, after you apply the beard cream or oil.

Step 2: Use the Beard Products Regularly Every Day

The second step is all about taking time and devoting it to your beard. It should become your morning and night routine when you wake up and before you go to bed. Plan to spend an extra 5 minutes in the bathroom every day if you want your beard to grow healthily.

Step 3: Apply the Products Correctly

When I say take time to apply the beard products correctly, I mean it! You shouldn’t hurry and do everything at once because you will only waste the products and get no results. So, first, wash the beard with the beard shampoo. Put the instructed amount of the formula on the beard and massage it thoroughly. Then rinse the beard and don’t rub it in a towel. Instead, gently pat it dry.

Then, put a bit of the beard oil on your hands, smear it across the hands and massage the beard and the skin underneath. Make sure every hair and the skin are well coated. Wait for a few minutes to let the oil absorb and then use a minimal amount (like a pea size) of the beard cream and apply it only on the beard. Use the brush or comb to style the beard.

Step 4: Use Scissors or Beard Trimmer to Shape the Beard

Once your beard is long enough, you need to trim it regularly so that it stays in shape. You can do that with a pair of scissors or a beard trimmer. Make sure you have a steady hand and adjust the trimmer correctly to avoid making it shorter than you wanted. You can experiment with some artistic looks but if you are not a pro or not really talented to do so, it would be better to leave it to the professionals.

Or if you are not confident that you will be able to style it properly altogether, visit your barber regularly.

For Later On

Grooming the beard never stops. That is why you must plan a couple of minutes ahead in every washing routine. It takes time to get it in shape, style it and make sure it will be protected from the elements if you spend most of your time in the open, especially in the colder months. Plus, a bushy, unattended beard won’t create a good first impression with the girls. And you surely don’t want to be appalling to the woman population, do you?

The Beard and Different Job Positions

In the past, people were considered unreliable if they showed up on interviews for beards and were often not elected for the job. However, this is not the case nowadays. More and more men can be seen rocking the macho look with facial hair in every field and industry. The Hollywood scene seems to have a huge impact on the whole perception as A-list Hollywood actors can be seen with beards rather than clean-shaved on the most important public appearances.

What was once thought to be anti-business look today is accepted as self-expression and in such sensitive environment that we are living today, this choice is not questionable. Moreover, having facial hair is a symbol of masculinity and urban style that reaches its peak currently.

All of this shows that no discrimination can be made towards people who choose to wear a beard regardless of the job they are doing. It is a personal choice that it is only up to the individual to make.

The Bottom Line

Growing the beard is relatively easy provided that you have all the necessary beard care products. Regular application of the products and regular grooming will give excellent results; the beard will be soft, easy to style, shiny and healthy. The skin underneath will be hydrated, moisturized and fresh looking. It certainly takes time to get to the point where the beard becomes a part of you without which you would be unrecognizable but once you manage to do it, your self-confidence will be off the charts.
