How did you start your company/business as a startup?

VLB/VBJ Enterprises, LLC. was created as an umbrella or a series for companies like 4-U-Nique Publishing. I wanted to establish a company that ventured into, Real Estate; Public Speaking; Investing and Building Businesses; and Consulting. I patterned VLB/VBJ Enterprises after what Magic Johnson has done. He and I are both motivational speakers; as well as about building up communities. My goal with this company is to build communities up while delivering positive messages and helping others reach their potential and accomplish their goals.

Under VLB/VBJ Enterprises, LLC, 4-U-Nique Publishing, LLC, The Minor Details Auto Spa, and Mobile Detailing and Helping Hands Home Buyers, LLC were formed. Both companies have helped dozens of people make their dreams become a reality. VLB/VBJ Enterprises, LLC is involved with 5 different charities and organizations, assisting in community events, fundraisers, and speaking engagements.

4-U-Nique Publishing, LLC was created when I was in talks with a major publishing company about releasing my first book “You Ain’t Hungry Until I’m Starving.” The more I found out about traditional publishers and the process of publishing, I decided the self-publishing route was a better option for me. When I went the self-publishing route, I realized how challenging is to find a good and affordable editor. With this knowledge, I set off to create a publishing company whose focus is on providing authors with various quality publishing services; as well as allowing them to keep their publishing rights and providing them with higher royalties than other publishing companies. If you check out the company’s webpage www.4-U-NiquePublishing.com, you will see how we are unique in our product as well as services.

4-U-Nique Publishing, LLC has been successful in helping several authors reach their goals of producing printed books and ebooks by providing them with publishing services. 4-U-Nique Publishing is home to the award-winning and bestseller “You Ain’t Hungry Until I’m Starving”. “Getting Out of the Dark: How to Have a Life Full of Success, Wealth, and Happiness” was one of 2016 most downloaded ebooks. Kevin Bates’ “Still Beautiful: The Color of Beauty” was released by 4-U-Nique Publishing and it has had great reviews. “Vid’s Viddles: Daily Vitamins for Your Soul” has been voted one of the “Books to Read in 2017” by several publications. All of these accomplishments have been reached by a company who only was established in 2015, pretty impressive. 4-U-Nique Publishing has been featured in several publications, including USA Weekly, Huffington Post, and Forbes. http://usaweekly.com/2018/02/interview-with-vid-lamonte-buggs-j-founder-and-owner-at-4-u-nique-publishing/

What struggle did you go through to reach your current status now?

Some of the challenges that I met during the process of starting my businesses were 1). Funding 2). Getting Support 3). Being Familiar with the Industry.

How did you manage to cope up with those struggles?

I coped with the challenges by 1). Funding the businesses myself. I would use the money from my basketball training and coaching, and my savings to fund the needs of my businesses.

2). Getting support was more of a challenge but I’ve found that if people see that you are passionate, trustworthy, and hard-working they will get behind your cause. I would keep people who were close to my updated on what I and the business were doing, and they help spread the word.

3). I was able to get familiar with the industries that I am in through thorough research. I studied past trends, past business models, and current trends and business models. I talked to others who were in the industries that I was coming into.

Who inspired you to move forward and influenced you in all your achievements now?

My Mom, Dad, Sisters, Magic Johnson, Steve Jobs, Warren Buffet, and Daymond John, are some of the people who inspired my entrepreneur journey.

What piece of advice will you share with those who would like to follow your footsteps?

3 pieces of advice I would love to share are:

1). Learn your industry. Stay current with the trends, and stay ahead of the game. If you are late your business will suffer.

2). Hire slow and fire fast. Your employees will make or break your business, they interact more with your customers and clients more than anyone else in your company. You want to make sure that they are beneficial to your company and not toxic.

3). Stay patient and consistent. Starting a business can be stressful. As long as you have a plan, work at it consistently, and remain patient through the good times and not so good, you and your business will be alright. There’s a saying, “Rome wasn’t built in a day” and Success doesn’t come overnight. Trust the Process.
