Terra Briscoe Adams: Once Teen Mom, Turned Her Story into a Successful Business.

Please state your name, your position, and a bit of your Business.

Terra Briscoe Adams, Owner of Widdle Toes. A mommy and me clothing store, created to build bonds between mother and daughter.

How did the business start?

At the time, I was working full-time worker, a full-time graduate student, and pregnant with my second daughter. Let’s just say our budget was on a budget. I knew that being on maternity leave, I needed an extra income. I’ve always been a fan of fashion, and starting my own clothing line. I’ve also always dressed my daughter and me alike for years. I launch the business that I dreamed of to help support my husband and my passion.

What are the challenges you met and how did you manage to cope up with these challenges and reach your current status?

Being a full-time entrepreneur is not an easy task, but I’ve managed to be in business for almost 4 years. I’ve had days when I didn’t sell an item, days when I didn’t post a thing… but I always had a reason to keep going. I have two daughters who look up to me and love dressing the same. That’s my inspiration to get over the challenges. Challenges will come, but you have to remember why you started from the beginning.

Who influenced you in this industry and how did he/she influence you?

My influence didn’t come from a celebrity. It actually came from my mother. She has always been someone who put her best foot forward when it came to fashion. It was effortless how she can make clothes mesh with her personality. I looked up to her. That’s the same feeling I want young girls to have about their mother.

How did you manage to market your business and compete with other agencies in your niche?

I’m aware of my competition, but that doesn’t make me compete. I know where I want to be in life, and that’s my motivation to keep going. The difference between other businesses and I are my costume items. What you find on Widdle Toes you can not get from any other department stores.

What Best Practice/s can you share to our startup readers?

To start your business, you have to do just that… start it! Don’t be afraid of the failures, competition, or lack of funds. Pray and ask God to lead you in the direction, and all of the crumbs will fall into place.
